AMS Heads of Schools Retreat
The AMS Heads of Schools Retreat is the annual gathering of Montessori heads of schools, program directors, and other aspiring leaders over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. Every January, these hardworking individuals join together in a welcoming and relaxing location to learn from the expertise of a guest facilitator and to network with their peers.
Retreat-goers also “recharge their batteries,” taking inspiration from the company, the collaboration, and the allure of a beautiful locale.
As participants of past retreats attest, this long weekend of collegiality and renewal is critical to keeping a fresh outlook on the daily challenges of leading a school. Here are some comments that have come our way:
“A wonderfully enriching event.”
—Marge Ellison, Montessori Country Day School (Houston, TX)
“A great opportunity for reflection. It brings you back to your mission in life—working with children.”
—Eleni Bokas, The Franklin Schools (Rockville, MD)
“The networking is fabulous. Every year I make new friends, become closer to old ones, and take away ideas that I can immediately use."
—Kathy Roemer, Twin Parks Montessori Schools (New York City, NY)
“The retreat is one of the highlights of my year; I wouldn't miss it.”
—Pam Dunbar, The Montessori Academy of Arlington (Arlington, TX)
“A great place to learn, network, play, and relax . . . definitely a do-again!"
— Debbie Kelly, Brickton Montessori School (Chicago, IL)
