Welcome NCME!

In June 2006, after months of strategic planning, the National Center for Montessori Education joined with the American Montessori Society to create a single, strengthened organization based at AMS headquarters in New York City. We believe that the shared visions and resources that result from this decision will provide untold advantages to our members as well as to the broader educational community.

NCME memberships that were active at the time of the union were transferred to AMS, with full AMS benefits, and ran through December 31, 2006. To renew an expired membership or to newly join AMS, go to Individual Membership. NCME lifetime members are being honored as AMS lifetime members.)

We at AMS warmly welcome our new members. We look forward to serving you and to getting to know you. Please always feel welcome to drop a note to Executive Director Richard Ungerer or to any of the other members of our staff with your thoughts and ideas, and to explore the possibilities this momentous decision allows.

Please note that we will be carrying on the NCME tradition of hosting a conference on the West Coast. The AMS 2007 Fall Conference will be held in Southern California at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, October 12 - 14. We hope to see a great turnout from our NCME friends and colleagues! It will be our pleasure to personally meet and greet you. In early September 2006, we e-mailed a letter to directors of teacher education programs and schools about the conference.
