“Courage to Lead”
With facilitator Paul Michalec, PhD
(Center for Courage and Renewal)

Please join us to reflect on life and work—and enjoy a beautiful tropical setting with your colleagues—during the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend.

PROGRAM

Dr. Paul Michalec, professor and program chair at the University of Denver, and a nationally-trained facilitator for Courage to Lead, will help participants realize or renew courage and inspiration as educators, while exploring the congruency, integrity, and authenticity between their personal and professional lives. Just as Aline Wolf has encouraged us to nurture the spirit of the child, this is an opportunity for school leaders to nurture their own spirits and learn ways to nurture the spirits of their colleagues.

Courage to Lead is a program of the Center for Courage & Renewal, which has been helping foster personal and professional renewal through retreats since 1997. Developed with author, educator, and activist Parker J. Palmer, PhD, and the Fetzer Institute, this approach was initially created to renew, sustain, and inspire public school teachers, and is now being used with school administrators, as well as physicians, nurses, attorneys, clergy, directors of non-profits and other professionals.

SETTING

The 2009 Heads of Schools Retreat will be held at the Park Royal Cozumel in Cozumel, Mexico.

The Park Royal is an all-inclusive resort located directly in front of a barrier reef close to Puerta Maya. Features include a private underpass leading to a natural secluded beach in a small cove; a large, free-form swimming pool; plenty of fun-in-the-sun activities, as well as cooking classes, Spanish classes, and more; and a variety of restaurants and bars.

All registrations and reservations are to be made through GLOBAL TRAVEL PARTNERS (Mark Davies or Patricia Frederick), not through AMS.
