The news of the cyclone in Myanmar, and the earthquake in China, is devastating. We at AMS express our deepest concern for all those who have been affected, as well as our fervent hopes that relief efforts will be as immediate and comprehensive as possible.
Should you wish to contribute to help victims in Myanmar, below is a list of agencies that plan to provide relief for that country, which appeared in the New
York Times on May 7, 2008. The Times points out that they “do not certify the charities’ fund allocations or administrative costs, and that more information about giving, for this and other causes, is available online from the GuideStar database on nonprofit agencies.”
Below the list of agencies that we read about in the Times, we have
added information about other organizations, which we have come upon independently;
again, we are not endorsing these organizations nor certifying their expense
allocations. We will continue to provide additional information as it becomes
available. If
you have relevant information that you would like to bring to our attention,
please e-mail Marcy Krever, AMS director
of communication and marketing.

From the Heifer International Website, about the earthquake in China: “Numerous agencies are providing emergency relief like blankets, food and water. Heifer's main focus is on the next step that assures participants a solid future after calm is restored and rebuilding begins. Please help provide opportunity to those who have lost so much.”
