AMS ARCHIVES

The American Montessori Society Archives, documenting the history of our organization going back to its earliest days, are housed at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. The collection, consisting of printed, typescript, and handwritten materials; sound recordings; films; photographs; and slides, reflects the professional and administrative activities of AMS and provides historical information about the Montessori system of education.

The collection is open to the public. Hours of accessibility vary throughout the year.

Detailed information about the AMS Collection can be found on the Dodd Center website. Items are added on a regular basis.

An article about the AMS Archives was published in the University of Connecticut newspaper, The Advance.  To read the article, click on the title:  “Montessori Society records given to Dodd Center archives.”

The Dodd Center encourages and supports research by offering travel grants to graduate students and other scholars who must travel long distances to use their facilities.  Information about the travel grants can be viewed on the Dodd Center website.
