How involved are the father-figures at your children's school? Are they members of the parent association? Do they volunteer in the classroom and attend parent education events? Are they involved at all grade levels? Drawing on his new book, The Modern Dad's Dilemma: How to Stay Connected with Your Kids in a Rapidly Changing World, the latest research, and his extensive experience as an educator and a Montessori school parent, John will help you think systematically about how to best engage a community of dads or father figures - or how to be a part of one. For schools searching for more male involvement, it will serve as a critical starting point.

John Badalament, EdM, is the author of The Modern Dad's Dilemma: How to Stay Connected to Your Kids in a Rapidly Changing World and director of the acclaimed PS documentary All Men are Sons: Exploring the Legacy of Fatherhood. His work has been featured on ABC News and NPR, among other places. A graduate of Harvard's Graduate School of Education, over the last 18 years John has worked in public and independent school settings as a dean, teacher, and coach. In addition, he has worked in clinical settings as a counselor for adolescents and adults, and in private practice with couples. John trained with Terry Real, therapist and author of I Don't Want to Talk About It and The New Rules of Marriage.
